Overview
Featuring the improved format used in the 5th edition, \xa0 Patty's Toxicology, 6th Edition presents comprehensive toxicological data for industrial compounds in logical groupings, from metals to synthetic polymers as well as physical agents. There are both completely new chapters which were not in the 5th edition, and those from the 5th edition which have been revised to include insights into the mechanisms of toxicologic action in the body.\xa0 New subjects include nanotechnology, flavorings and the food industry, reactive chemical control to comprehensive chemical policy, metalworking fluids, and pharmaceuticals.\xa0 Expanded chapters include benzene, aromatic compounds, smoke and combustion products from fires, mercury, radio-frequency and microwave radiation (cell phones) and wood dust. \xa0 Data have been updated on both non cancer and carcinogenic risk assessment. Information for each compound includes CAS numbers, physical and chemical properties, exposure limits, and biological tolerance values for occupational exposures. Coverage also includes major issues in toxicology assessment as well as other forms of toxic agents. This edition has about 40% new authors who have brought a new and international perspective to interpreting industrial toxicology.
