Overview
The aim of the book is to provide medical interview candidates with a competitive edge, reduce the likelihood of unexpected questions or situations, provide answers to common questions and scenarios, and help provide confidence before and during the medical interview. The book begins with the various application processes and types of medical interviews for different types of medical positions. It then covers how to prepare for the interview and how to perform best during the interview. The second half of the book then goes into more detail on common interview questions, types of interview questions, examples and answers to common knowledge-based questions and competency-based tasks and how best to prepare for them. The new second edition includes updated content on the ongoing changes to the structure of healthcare in the UK and how this affects both the application and interview process itself, and also the types of questions that will be asked at medical interviews. Given the numbers of doctors and healthcare professionals with international qualifications practising in the UK there is also improved guidance for overseas doctors and healthcare professionals and also for those seeking to practice abroad.
