This series is designed for public library patrons and high school students who are developing the skills needed to transition successfully in the real world - whether in the context of college, the workplace, or their personal lives. In a progressive series of volumes, the first four volumes of the Life And Career Skills Series treat the following themes:
Volume 1: Personal Finance - Budgeting, credit cards, student loans, saving, interest, stocks, Social Security, retirement planning, taxes, renting v. buying a home, mortgages, insurance.
Volume 2: Employment - Educational opportunities, getting a job, interviewing, sources for finding work, career development, second/third careers.
Volume 3: Health And Wellness - Principles of good nutrition, exercise, mental health, medical insurance.
Volume 4: Social Skills - Social skills in personal (e.g. communication skills) and professional contexts (e.g. time management, dealing with ambiguity, self-direction).
Written in an engaging question and answer style, each volume covers 50 topics with overviews and scenarios to help public library patrons and students work through the real-life application of the principles covered. Each volume includes an extensive resource section listing organizations, support groups, websites, and more.
