This book explores how data can teach students about the world around us, and also about their community right at home, making for an instant connection with the reader. Written by Ohio University professors, the book begins with a global perspective but quickly zooms in on communities students can relate to, such as their state, city, and neighborhood. Charts and graphs throughout the book present data about population and racial/ethnic diversity across our country, and students are asked to think about the diversity in their local communities.
