Overview
The book consists of articles by three senior scholars (namely Professor Xia Bojia from the University of Pennsylvania, Professor Tao Feiya from the Department of History, Shanghai University, and Professor Philip L. Wickeri from the San Francisco Theological Seminary) and 16 other articles written by young scholars. Topics covered included studies on Catholicism, Christianity and society, as well as Christian culture and theological studies. The articles written by the three senior scholars discussed Catholic preaching in the late Ming Dynasty, the reasons behind the banning of religion in the early Qing Dynasty, and the early development of the Three-Self Patriotic Movement of the Protestant Churches in China.
