In partnership with The National Archives, we have created one of the richest collections of declassified primary source material on Hong Kong.

Digitised from the records of British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO 40 and FCO 21), China and the Modern World: Hong Kong, Britain, and China, Part II: 1965–1993 contains approximately 400,000 pages of Hong Kong-related declassified documents from 1965 to 1993. Handwritten text recognition (HTR) is applied, enabling full-text searches including handwritten documents in cursive script. The documents provide valuable insights into the process of Hong Kong transforming itself into a modern international metropolis and financial centre in the wider context of the Cold War.
