Powerspeak Languages doesn’t just give users words to memorize—it immerses them in the language and the culture. Whether learning a new language for business or pleasure, being a global citizen means knowing how to communicate beyond ordering a drink or asking for the location of the train station. The Powerspeak Language provides a rich language learning experience that uses audio, video, and interactive lessons to take users beyond rote memorization to a deep understanding of how to communicate with confidence in a new language.
Available languages: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Korean , Japanese, Russian, Mandarin, ESL (for Spanish speakers), and ESL (for Mandarin speakers).
Powerspeak Languages is designed to meet the National Standards outlined by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL)/Northwest Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities and Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC).With Powerspeak Languages, users "live the language" courtesy of a friendly, functional structure that begins by introducing vocabulary in the context of everyday usage. For instance, modules set up familiar scenarios where practical language skills are needed, such as making a phone call, dining out, and asking for directions. Progressing through the courses, Powerspeak incorporates cultural activities, exposing users to a wide-range of depth and culture surrounding the target language.

Powerspeak Languages is available through a partnership between Gale and Middlebury Interactive Languages. Learning a language requires far more than listen-and-repeat exercises that teach the listener how to order a drink or ask the location of the nearest restroom. It requires a deep dive into the language using unique combination of fun, engaging, and immersive activities that integrate numerous teaching and learning methods and that keep the learner coming back.
