This book includes findings about Overseas Chinese family businesses. These findings are based on research, conducted in cooperation between The Jakarta Consulting Group and other reputable institutions. Research and literature from notable family business experts is also included. The Dragon Network analyzes the business life, philosophies and achievements of prominent overseas Chinese family business in Asia, such as the Kuoks (Malaysia) and the Liems of  Salim Group (Indonesia). This book analyzes how the senior generations prepare their children to run the business and how the businesses perform when the younger generations lead the businesses.  Various studies have been conducted to reveal the secrets of successful overseas Chinese family businesses, in terms of personal characteristics, managerial style, and cultural values. In this book, these issues are explained with examples from family businesses, particularly in Asian countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, and Indonesia.  It notes that flexibility, ability to adapt to changing business environments, and resilience contribute to the success of many overseas Chinese family businesses. It is always interesting to discuss conflict in family businesses. Overseas Chinese family businesses are not exempt. Susanto will analyze conflict management in these businesses. This includes an in-depth analysis of conflict in the Indonesian company, Nyonya Meneer, an example of a family business that has survived three bitter family conflicts lasting more than 24 years. Today, Myonya Meneer is led by the third generation and has become one of the biggest herbal companies in Indonesia.
