El presente libro desarrolla los contenidos del módulo profesional de Motores Térmicos y sus Sistemas Auxiliares, del Ciclo Formativo de Grado Superior correspondiente al título de Técnico Superior en Automoción, establecido por el Real Decreto 1796/2008, de 3 de Noviembre. El texto parte del estudio de los motores de combustión interna como máquina térmica, explicando sus elementos constructivos y los sistemas básicos de lubricación y refrigeración. Posteriormente, se analizan los sistemas auxiliares, tanto de motores de gasolina como de motores diesel. Por último, se dedica un capítulo a la prevención de los riesgos laborales y a la protección ambiental durante las operaciones más habituales. Cada capítulo incluye un gran número de fotografías, figuras y esquemas que complementan la información del texto, pudiendo considerar el conjunto como un material autodidáctico. El nivel de actualización de los contenidos es tal que ofrece el estado del arte de las tecnologías empleadas en los motores térmicos y en sus sistemas auxiliares.
